Autoreak lan-hipotesia berri bat proposatzen du, zeinak esplika litzakeen Euskal Herriko toponimo historiko batzu orai arte « ezin esplikatuzko »-tzat ekartzen zirenak, eta hori mendebaldeko Europako lurralde batzuetan ongi dokumentatutak diren germaniar antroponimo batzuei esker.

RESUMEN

El autor propone una nueva hipótesis de trabajo, gracias a la cual se podría explicar una serie de topónimos históricos vascos que se consideraban como inexplicables a partir del euskera o del latín. Para ello, se vale de unos antropónimos germánicos que están bien documentados en una serie de territorios de la Europa Occidental.

RÉSUMÉ

L’auteur propose, en ce qui la toponymie historique du Pays Basque, une nouvelle piste de recherche, inédite et inattendue pouvant expliquer de façon réaliste et cohérente plusieurs toponymes historiques basques à partir d’anthroponymes d’origine germanique très bien attestés dans d’autres régions d’Europe occidentale.

ABSTRACT

The author proposes a new working hypothesis, thanks to which a series of historical Basque place names might be explained that were hitherto considered unexplainable. To this end, he takes advantage of some Germanic anthroponyms that have been well documented in a series of territories in Western Europe.

Autoreak hipotesia bat ezagutzera emaiten du, zeinak Euskal Autonomia Erkidegoko hiriburu administratiboak daraman izenaren jatorria eta errannahia, hau da Gasteiz leku-izenarena, esplikatzen dituen. Izan ere, azterketa linguistiko koherente eta errealista batek Gaskoinian eta baita ere Frantzian agertzen den antroponimo germaniko bat, erran nahi baita gotikoa, susmatzera eramaiten gaitu.

RESUMEN

El autor explica las razones por las cuales el nombre vasco de la capital administrativa de la Comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco, o sea, Gasteiz, resulta ser al fin y al cabo y únicamente un simple antroponímico de origen germánico, o si se prefiere gótico, nombre que además también existe en Gascuña y en Francia.

RÉSUMÉ

L’auteur explique pourquoi le nom basque de la capitale administrative de la Communauté autonome du Pays Basque, c’est-à-dire Gasteiz, ne peut être manifestement rien d’autre qu’un anthroponyme d’origine germanique, wisigothique notamment, formation anthroponymique apparaissant également en Gascogne et dans la patronymie française.
